Hi,
For a new design, we do not recommend the ADSP-21xx processors as they are our legacy processors and would become obsolete soon. The current production availability for the ADSP-2188N is 5-7 years. Please consider the processors in our Blackfin and SHARC family for your application. As you have mentioned, none of these processors are code/function/pin-pin compatible with the ADSP-218x processors. We can support you to resolve any processor specific issues faced during the development phase.
Let me know if you need any further information.
Best Regards,
Vishwanathan
