Cortex a5 and dual core sharc clock setting

Hi,

we want to use an adsp-sc589 in a project where there is a need to have the cortex a5 clock independent
of the dual core sharc. Reading the documentation i didn't understand if that is possible.

Thanks in advance

    Hi,

    1) Are you going to use ARM core alone or using SHARC also?
    2) The SC58x processor supports 2 independent CGUs, where CGU0 is used mandatory and CGU1 is used optional. The CGU0 is always clocked by CLKIN0, whereas CGU1 can be clocked either by CLKIN0 or CLKIN1.
    3) Why you need such configuration? Even though CGU0 is used mostly for the three cores, each core is input by separate CDU input. Please refer chapter-4 "CDU Clock Configuration Options"(Table 4-2: CDU Targets) from Sc58x HRM at below download link.

  • Hi,
    thank you very much for reply;
    thanks to your indications I have seen that it is possible to use 2 different clocks for the cortex a5 a
    nd for the clocks of the 2 sharc cores; we use all 3 cores; we need to use 2 different clocks because the
    clock that controls the audio algorithm of core0 (broadcast application) derives from an external device that
    can have minimal variations.
