I have been making use of the parallel port on the 21363 for both 8-bit and 16-bit I/O accesses to an FPGA. I am evaluating SHARCs in the 2148x series for a potential upgrade, but I am not seeing any parallel port resources. Is there any parallel port implementation on SHARCs beyond the 2136x?
Hi,The ADSp-2148X supports the parallel data acquisition port (PDAP).The PDAP supports four data packing modes for parallel data. The PDAP supports a maximum of 20-bits.Please refer the chapter 12 of ADSP-214xx SHARC Processor Hardware Reference manual from the below link,www.analog.com/.../ADSP-214xx_hwr_rev1.1.pdfRegards,Anand Selvaraj.
Thank you for the response. Unless I am mistaken, it appears that the PDAP can only be used for reads from external devices. I am looking for an interface on the 2148x that will allow reads and writes like the parallel port on the 21363. The AMI interface seems like it has the potential to be configured to do this, but I am not sure. Are there any examples of the AMI or other interface being used for parallel port I/O?
The 176 pin QFP version of the 21489 has an external data bus with 16 bit R/W capability. You can also use a 21469 but its data bus is 8 bits wide.
Hi,The Parallel Flash and SDRAM interface example codes are available in the Board support package. Please download and install " ADSP-21489 Board Support Package (Rev. 1.0.0) " using the below link:www.analog.com/.../21489-ezlite.htmlAfter installation, you can found "Power_On_Self_Test" example in the below path:<Installation path>\Analog Devices\ADSP-21489_EZKIT-Rel1.0.0\21489_EZ-Board\Examples\Power_On_Self_TestRegards,Anand Selvaraj.
