ADSP-BF518F EZ-Board Flash

In the project BF518FEzFlashDriver_M29W320EB, the readme file has the mention below :

"Note that the driver uses software protection if LOCK_CONFIG_FLASH_SECTOR is
defined.  This will protect sector 70 from being erased or programmed since
this is where configuration data for the EZ-Board is stored.  If you use
a custom driver or remove this protection, you may lose the data that is
programmed in the configuration sector."

What kind of configuration data is stored ?

Which project uses this configuration data ?

What is the risk if this sector is erased ?

Thank you

the MAC address for the ethernet PHY is stored in the Flash at address 0x203F0096, at a size of 6 chars. The Flash Programmer locks this address so that anything written to flash does not erase the MAC address.

The LwIP applications read this address. Of course, if you were to overwrite it, you could re-write the MAC address to any location in Flash, and modify the lwip_sysboot_threadtype.c to read from your 'new' location in Flash.
