Is it possible to flash a code into a flash IC without earsing the previously flashed code in it?

Category: Software
Product Number: Blackfin 609
Software Version: CCES 2.11

Hi

I wish to know if it is possible to flash a code into flash IC(N25Q) by not earsing the previously flashed code, so that, both the codes get booted into the main memory of the processor upon power up.

For example,

Consider the code that is previously flashed to be "Toggling of LED1". Now I wish to flash a code (into the same flash IC)  which is to "Toggle LED2"  without erasing the previously flashed "LED1 Toggle code".

By this both the LEDs need to get toggled upon power up.

Can anyone help me with this?

  • Hi,

We would suggest you to refer the application note(EE-364- Implementing Second-Stage Loaders for ADSP-BF60x Blackfin® Processors). There is an associated example code for your reference.

    Application note       : www.analog.com/.../EE-364.pdf
    Associated example : www.analog.com/.../EE-364.zip

Please refer the example code to perform SSL. In this example primary application loaded in offset 0 and secondary application loaded in some other offset. On Power on Reset primary application started to boot and using Rom API secondary application will boot.
