Can SPI Slave mode work without Chip Select on bf609?

>>  If the SPI is in slave mode, SPI_SS acts as the slave select input. The SPI_SS signal is an active-low signal and should be asserted during the transfer by the master. It can be deasserted or remain asserted between transfers. So, It is recommended to use the slave select.
Please refer the Slave Select Operation(Page No: 1506 / 2278) section in the ADSP-BF60x HRM manual. You can find the HRM from below link,

Please refer and check the attached DMA based SPI example code and the connection diagram between two ADSP-BF609 in the attachment. This code can be directly run on two ADSP-BF609 Ez-kits which configured one as Master transmitter and other as Slave receiver. Hope this helps.

I have been able to get it working without SS as documentation states 
" the start of a transfer is triggered by a transition of the SPI_SS signal to the active-low state or by the first active edge of SPI_ CLK,"
But I end up with a different issue described here:
