Summary: parallel flash not found in u-boot-2008.10 spi mode after reboot from kernel on bf548-ezkit version 1.1

Details:

For BF548 board version 1.1, using spi boot mode, it can't detect flash correctly in u-boot-2008.10 after reboot from kernel.

It's ok with newer board version 1.4.

It's ok with board version 1.1 para boot mode.

for some reason after the first read of address 0x20000000, the data is

incorrect

at the end of board_early_init_f() (so after the pins have been muxed

properly):

(gdb) mdb 0x20000000 16

0x20000000:     0x1f    0x50    0x1f    0xad    0x18    0x00    0xb8    0xff

0x20000008:     0x00    0x00    0x00    0x00    0xe4    0x4a    0x03    0x00

(gdb) mdb 0x20000000 16

0x20000000:     0x06    0x50    0x09    0xad    0x00    0x00    0xa0    0xff

0x20000008:     0x00    0x00    0x00    0x00    0xe4    0x4a    0x03    0x00

seems a bunch of dummy reads need to be placed onto the bus before the flash

starts responding correctly ... so something like this patch:

--- board/bf548-ezkit/bf548-ezkit.c     (revision 1605)

+++ board/bf548-ezkit/bf548-ezkit.c     (working copy)

So I need to add this patch to u-boot-2008.10 and check in?

I didn't see you commit.

--- Mike Frysinger                                           2009-01-19 22:46:48

i'm not going to commit that change.  i was commenting on the issue.  i think

it's a hardware bug, and if it's only a bug with v1.1 board, then it can sit.

--- Sonic Zhang                                              2009-03-03 03:49:33

Only test it with v1.3 and up.

--- Vivi Li                                                  2009-03-03 03:55:01

Yes, this bug only happens with v1.1 board. No such problem with 548 of higher

version.

Now we don't give support to that old version, so close this bug.
