I am testing uboot loader compiled for BF526 custom kit. It is connected to a host PC(ip:10.7.143.34) running aftpd daemon. It has uImage stored in /tftpboot directory. The host m/c tftpd is tested working with BF526-ezbrd from ADI.

In the custom bf526 board, Uboot comes up with the bfin prompt. I tried running tftpboot on uboot prompt :

bfin > tftptboot 0x1000000 uImage

I get the following response on console:

****************************

Link up detected

Using bfin_mac device

TFTP from server 10.7.143.34; our IP address is 10.7.143.88

Filename 'uImage'.

Load address: 0x1000000

Loading: T T T T

*****************************

File transfer does not start at all. What could be the issue.

(P.S - Phy chip used on-board is RTL 8201(CP). It uses MII. I have disabled RMII in my board config. Is there any other configuration for using MII interface.)

Regards

Mala

try using Wireshark to capture the traffic. Run Wireshark on the server.

Use the filter "host 10.7.143.88". It will show you the TFTP

conversation between the board and the host.

Do you get response from the server if you ping the server from the board?

Aaron,

I have checked ping from target (Bf526 based )(with ip 10.7.143.88) and with the host (10.7143.34).

Response to:

bfin> ping 10.7.143.34

is :

---------------------------------

Using bfin_mac device

ping failed; host 10.7.143.34 is not alive

----------------------------------

Could not capture any ping request from target in host using wiresharp. However,

Wireshark traffic with "Host 10.7.143.88" catptured on "tftp 0x1000000 uImage" command at bfin prompt is:

1 0.000000    02:80:ad:20:31:e8     Broadcast                    ARP      Who has 10.7.143.34?  Tell 10.7.143.88

2 0.000052    Hostnet_13:53:2e      02:80:ad:20:31:e8       ARP      10.7.143.34 is at 00:0b:2b:13:53:2e

3 5.000701    02:80:ad:20:31:e8     Broadcast                    ARP      Who has 10.7.143.34?  Tell 10.7.143.88

4 5.000724    Hostnet_13:53:2e      02:80:ad:20:31:e8       ARP      10.7.143.34 is at 00:0b:2b:13:53:2e

5 5.000736    02:80:ad:20:31:e8     Broadcast                    ARP      Who has 10.7.143.34?  Tell 10.7.143.88

6 5.000744    Hostnet_13:53:2e      02:80:ad:20:31:e8       ARP      10.7.143.34 is at 00:0b:2b:13:53:2e

Looks like ARP reply from host is not received by the target. Hence re-requesting. Is it a problem in the host to target receive path.

How did you assign the IP adress for your blackfin board? suggest you to assign it by DHCP by running "dhcp" in u-boot and try to ping the host again.

Aaron,

I had configured IP in my board config file . Not using DHCP.

TFTP and pIng is finally working.

The problem was in the hardware receive path from RTL chip to DSP interface. I shall update when my fisrt uclinux kernel boot happens in this board. I am in the process of re-configuring the board settings for kernel. I shall check that out ans incase some issue shall get back.

Thanking you and wojtek

Aaron ,

Kernel booting also got resolved on the cutom BF526 kit. The problem wasn't with the configured console as UART0 and environment variables close to yours set for BF548. . The board specific configuration under verdor/board was for BF526ezbrd . some of the features like para flash, RTC not supported in custom board. After I updated the file with board specific changes, Kernel bootup from RAM tested Okay. I should'nt have overlooked this step. I appologise for the same.

Thanks

Mala
