Does this happens when you try to "save env" ? You need to configure your u-boot properly for saving env in SPI flash, please consult file like include/configs/bf518f-ezbrd.h

What's your u-boot version? If it's the 2010R1 you may try the latest trunk.  You may also take a look at this: https://blackfin.uclinux.org/gf/project/u-boot/forum/?action=ForumBrowse&forum_id=51&thread_id=44281&_forum_action=ForumMessageBrowse

that warning does not mean you cant save the env.  it *only* means that the existing env is corrupt.

simply do as Aaron suggested and run 'save' to force writing of a new env block (including crc).

i didnt mean the literal "config.h" file.  i meant your board's config header.

i see you're using bf518f-ezbrd.h ... you shouldnt be hijacking existing board ports, you should be creating your own.

that save output clearly shows that saving is not working.  further, it shows that you're using parallel flash, not SPI flash, both for booting as well as the environment.

Yes from your log you are saving your evn into Parallel flash rather than the SPI one. You need to define the related macros including CONFIG_ENV_IS_IN_SPI_FLASH in the include/configs/bf518f-ezbrd.h. By the way, saving env to SPI flash works well on my side

this is still an error in your config.

your CONFIG_SYS_MAX_FLASH_SECT needs to be large enough for the parallel flash you're using.

or your async timings (CONFIG_EBIU_AMBCTL0_VAL) are too fast and the communication with the parallel is getting screwed up.

or your hardware isnt that great, and so you need to slow down the async timings anyways to work around it.

For the env saving location, please consult common/Makefile,  and env_sf.c, env_flash.c. From your log obviously the env_flash.c is compiled in other than the env_sf.c, which means either the  u-boot is not properly configured or you are booting from the wrong uImage image.

Yes this is the Makefile, as I said you need to check the u-boot is properly configured so env_sf.c instead of env_flash.c is compiled. From your boot log env_flash.c is compiled.

As your boot log says "Saving env to Flash" instead of "Saving evn to SPI Flash". You can confirm this by checking if there is env_sf.o or env_flash.o after make following a make clean.  Or by adding some syntax error by purpose in env_flash.c
