Hi, all

I have a BF537-STAMP board and successfully load U-boot.ldr through RS232 and serial cable by ldr-utils(linux) and LdrViewer(window).

However, some hosts just have USB connectors.

Is it possbile to load ldr through USB?

Which convertor do I need? uart<->usb,or RS232<->usb?

Acctually, I have tried this by using FTDI (MM232R USB-Serial UART), but failed

linux-vki6:/dev # bfin-uclinux-ldr -l /u-boot.ldr /dev/ttyUSB0

Loading LDR /u-boot.ldr ... OK!

Removing stale lock '//var/lock/LCK..ttyUSB0'

Opening /dev/ttyUSB0 ... OK!

Configuring terminal I/O ... OK!

Trying to send autobaud ... OK!

Trying to read autobaud ... bfin-uclinux-ldr: received signal 14: timeout while sending; aborting

Could someone who successfully loads LDR by usb share some experience?

Best

Jianxi

a RS232<->USB dongle works just fine (PC <-> USB <-> RS232 <-> Blackfin).  i do this all the time as do other people.  the process is exactly the same as loading to an RS232 port.

please review the troubleshooting:

Dear Mike,

Could you give me the detail information on the converter you are using? (brand and module number).

Actually I had bought one from RadioShack (Gigaware® 6-ft. USB-A to Serial Cable), but it doesn't work.

I just want to get one that can work successfully. It will save more time.

I appreciate you very much!

Regards

Jianxi

i have no idea where my cables came from.  the plastics have "SEWELL" printed on them, but that's the only markings it has.  maybe that'll be enough for you.

in my personal experience, any USB<->RS232 converter that has a Prolific PL2303 part inside of it works nicely.  while everything else tends to be ****.  this SEWELL cable of mine has a pl2303 in it ...
