2009-08-31 06:25:41     No SDHC-Card support even in TRUNK-HEAD (BF526)?

I work on "u-boot-2009R1-RC3" and find out, that there's no SDHC-Card support for the bf526/bf527 processor.

Then I checked out the Trunk head, but it didn't work, too.

Are SDHC-Cards still not supported in the current u-boot on BF526/BF527 processors?

Or am I doing something wrong and have to take a clother look?

Otherwise I have to spend plenty of time to fix it. So if anybody did it before, please let me know.

(I use a custommade Board on which simple SD-Cards works fine. I use SPI-mode.)

Marco:

When I made this - I was using a BF527 EZkit.

Well, I guess the card you used is no SDHC card?

Standard SD-Cards works fine, thats right.

I try to use SDHC cards  (abt. 8GByte, Ver.2), because in early (?) future none-SDHC cards will become obsolete.

So if anybody fixed u-boot working on HC-types, too: Please let me know ...

there is no perceived problem so no one is working on anything

Hmmm... OK... more precisely ;-)

There are '"normal" SD-Cards up to 4GByte capacity and the bigger ones with more, which are called SDHC cards (High capacity). In near future only SDHC-types will be available. We need to support "SD 2.0" to take care about this.

So there are two questions:

1) Is SD 2.0 supported in current u-boot (bf526/527)?

2) If not: Did somebody work on it, because I wouldn't reinvent the wheel...

BTW: Thank you for nice support and really quick response!

i know the difference between SD and SDHC.  the question was why you think there is no support.

there is no SDH controller on the BF52x, so the only way to interface these cards is via SPI.  the SPI/MMC driver in u-boot is a big old hack.  there are no plans to extend this at this time as it needs to get thrown out and written from scratch using common SPI code.

In my first notice I wrote, that I use SPI to interface the SD1.0 cards, too.

Now I know that these HC / SD2.0 cards are currently not supported and my time is not waste when I start working on this :-)

That's all I want to know: Thank you.
