Hai,

I have flashed 2008R1.5 Uboot in BF533 Ezkit. This works well when the bmode switch is set as 11.

But in the previous Uboot version the same board worked when the bmode switch is set as 01.

Can anyone please clarify this for me ?

Thanks.

What you are thinking of 11 might be 00 - depending on your logic.

https://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=hw:boards:bf533-ezkit#bf533-ezkit1

What you are seeing is the difference between LDR and XIP. Check the docs.

Hai Mike and Robin,

From the data sheet ,

BMODE1–0 Description

00 Execute from 16-bit external memory (bypass boot ROM)

01 Boot from 8-bit or 16-bit FLASH

10 Boot from serial master connected to SPI

11 Boot from serial slave EEPROM/flash (8-,16-, or 24-bit address range, or Atmel AT45DB041,AT45DB081, or AT45DB161serial flash)

But from the link you mentioned https://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=hw:boards:bf533-ezkit#bf533-ezkit1

Boot Mode Switch (SW11)

Positions 1 and 2 of SW11 set the boot mode of the processor. On older versions of the board, these were JP1 and JP2 jumpers. The table shows the available boot mode settings. By default, the processor boots from the on-board flash memory (XIP). Normally U-Boot expects both switches/jumpers to be on/installed. Please check with the bootrom supports, for more info on supported booting methods.

SW11.1 / JP1 (BMODE1)

SW11.2 / JP2 (BMODE0)

Can you please clarify in this regarding which one is correct ?

Note:   The status Installed refers to ON/High state which is 1.

Thanks..

Did you look at the schematics for the 533 EZkits? when you install the jumpers it pulls things down - installed is zero/GND. Both docs are correct.
