Hi all,

I am planning to run the BF548 EZKit Media Demo, to give demo to customers. So as the first step says, I am loading the U-boot first. I burnt the u-boot-bf548-ezkit-spi-2008R1.ldr into SPI flash available in this link -

http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=hw:boards:bf548_media_demonstration

The U-boot does a soft reset and this continues, until I press a button - PB4. When I do that, the "bfin> "command prompt appears and the Linux image also appears on the LCD. I do not face any issues once U-boot is working fine. But I have to press this switch some 1 to 20 times, to perform proper booting.

Then I took u-boot-bf548-ezkit-spi-2008R1.5.ldr from here:

https://blackfin.uclinux.org/gf/project/u-boot/frs/

This went to a a state in which the U-boot just asks you to press reset. I have attached the output from windows hyperterminal.

The debug output of both the cases seem to be the same, only that in first case - the reset happens automatically. Note that I am burning the U-boot only through VDSP.  I can boot a simple LED blink code from SPI, thus ensuring that hardware is fine. The behavior persisted on 0.2 Si and 0.1 SI boards. EZ-KIT revisions were 1.4 in all cases.

Thanks for any help.

You can not do that. See the note in the page you found about distribution. The page says:

>You can not distribute, or loan the end result to a non-ADI employee(s), without a proper signed agreement from ADI legal.

Hi Robin,

What would be the procedure to get the agreement? I am working in the DSP Applications Team of ADI.

And on the particular issue, do you have any idea why it is failing? The first u-boot is a normal u-boot code that boots from SPI. I am not sure if I am missing anything there.

Thanks & Regards

Prasanth.

talk to legal.  we have nothing to do with legal.

use the documented method for loading u-boot, not vdsp:

http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=bootloaders:u-boot:loading

you should always use the latest release -- 2008R1.5, not 2008R1

also, do not post word documents that only contain text.  plus, your text is garbled because hyperterminal sucks.  use proper logging, or get a real operating system on there.

Prasanth:

The code was working on older EZKits - I'm not sure if there are issues on new ones.

i also do vaguely recall use of an uninitialized pointer with intel flash reset ... that would only be fixed in 2009R1
