Hi,

I am working with the latest u-boot 2008R1.5 custom board bf533 Nor Flash interfaced to it through AMS#0.

RGB colour LCD device also interfaced to it.

I want to display a image on the LCD sreen while u-boot boots the kernel.

I saw the example in BF548-Ezkit (CONFIG_VIDEO)  there they are displaying the logo information, this logo information is stored in a buffer. this in turn will increase the u-boot.bin size. This method also requires for me to edit the image data whenever i need to change the image.

what are the other ways for displaying the image on LCD screen. Is SPLASH SCREEN method helps. does the SPLASH SCREEN method is only used for the Bitmap images or it can be used for displaying the color images also.

By using the SPLASH SCREEN method, Can I store the splash screen image in the NOR Flash? so that i can easily change the required image whenever it requires without much editing the code.

Can anyone guide me how to proceed on this.

Thanks and Regards, Sreedhar

we've never used the splash screen method.  you can consult the top level README file for a description.  afaik only bmp's are supported.

as for increasing u-boot.bin, whether the image is stored in u-boot or raw flash, you still have to store it ... so i dont really see how it matters.

you could also try asking on the u-boot mailing list for splash screen information.
