Hi guys,

i try to load the binary-boot-stream into my TCM-BF537 Coremodul but there are some problems.

I use the "u-boot-tcm-bf537-uart.ldr" file from your side (http://blackfin.uclinux.org/gf/project/u-boot/frs/) under "Testing" and the ldr-viewer 1.2 on a windows-XP machine.

If i open the .ldr file it swows that this is a "8-bit ADSP-BF533 Blackfin compatible (Binary) boot stream..

The TCM-BF537 uses a BF537 Processor... is the .ldr file wrong????

If i boot over UART and use "Autobaud" the Blackfin answers correctly.... then i use "Send DXE".....

After about one minute the sending is finished but the Blackfin sends no answer.... (normaly a lot of Hex in "Receive"..)

If i connect to the Blackfin there is no reaction... is shows like the Blackfin is not working....

Does anyone have a idea what's the problem?

Thank you,

Patrick

When you say "ldr-viewer" - what are you talking about -- the ldr-utils?

please follow the directions and consult the troubleshooting section:

http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=bootloaders:u-boot:loading

the bf533/bf537 files use the same ldr format, so there is no real way to autodetect the difference between the two

the ldr file is perfectly correct as ive tested it on my own tcm-bf537 board as have other people

If you need help with a closed source Windows app - you need to go to the author - since that is not us - sorry. We can't helkp with that.

We would suggest to install the ldr-utils for Windows - our software - we can help troubleshoot it.

Hi,

i have tried to load u-boot on my linux machine but there is the same problem...

P-Linux:/dev# bfin-uclinux-ldr -l /home/patrick/u-boot-tcm-bf537-uart.ldr /dev/ttyUSB0

Loading LDR /home/patrick/u-boot-tcm-bf537-uart.ldr ... OK!

Opening /dev/ttyUSB0 ... OK!

Configuring terminal I/O ... OK!

Trying to send autobaud ... OK!

Trying to read autobaud ... OK!

Checking autobaud ... OK!

Autobaud result: 115200bps 49.766mhz (header:0xBF DLL:0x1B DLH:0x00 fin:0x00)

Sending blocks of DXE 1 ... OK!

You may want to run minicom or kermit now

Quick tip: run 'ldr <ldr> <tty> && minicom'

P-Linux:/dev#

now i open minicom with "115200 baud / 8N1

but there is no reply from the Blackfin if i hit enter a few times....

Is it possible that the problem is the toolchain 2008R1.5???

What can i try to get it running?

Patrick

there is no data stream validation, so if your usb<->serial connector is crappy (and it's not uncommon for them to be some cheap piece of **** from china), then you wont be able to use 115200 baud.  even a single dropped char will screw everything up.

Hi Mike,

is there any possibility to decrease the baudrate?? for example 9600 baud?

I think a slower baudrate should work better...

with the last release (and that binary you're using), no.  it only worked at 115200.

latest svn trunk should work at any speed.

OK,

that means i compile the new toolchain from trunk and use this....

Is there any howto or manual to use the trunk-ldr ???

Or can you write a short instruction?

Patrick

Hi Mike,

i have found a solution for my problems to load u-boot...

I use now a very old computer (500MHz, 128Mb RAM, ...) with a COM-Port :-) to load the u-boot.

Thank you for your help.

Maybe you can write a little notation to the "Initially Loading U-Boot" on docs.blackfin.uclinux.org that the USB=>Serial adapters make big problems....

Best Regards,

Patrick
