Hi,

I am working with u-boot version 1.1.6 2007 R1.  uClinux distribution 2007 R1 - RC3.

I am working with custom board BF533 Sdram 64 MB and Romfs 16 MB

I try tftp command to load the compiled uImage.

> tftp 0x1000000 uImage;bootm

I get Gunzip error, Ideally what would be the better value for loading the uImage.

Will it be better to load at address 0x2000000, loading at this address will cause any problem.

Is there any dependency of this load address with the romfs or any other parameters.

Thanks and Regards, Sreedhar.

Sreedhar:

It depends on your unique situation.

You just need to make sure that things don't collide when things are uncompressing.

Hi Robin,

Thankyou for quick reply.

I am seeing that Uncompression is not linear, sometimes it is 1:3 sometimes it is 1:3.5 etc.

In my application i have sdram size 64 MB and Romfs size as 16 MB starting at location 47 MB.

last 1 MB for DMA region.

I want to know whether loading the uImage at address 0x2000000 (32 MB) will create any problem for the normal booting of the uImage kernel.

Thanks and Best Regards, Sreedhar.

like Robin said, the load address of the uImage does not matter.  the only thing that matters is that things do not get clobbered ... either by the file itself overwriting u-boot, or the decompression overwriting something else (the image itself or u-boot).

Hi Mike,

Thankyou You have cleared most of my doubts. I have one question.

u-boot will be in Flash memory for my application, How does the u-boot gets overwritten while un compression.

Best Regards, Sreedhar.
