I'm new to blackfin linux.  I downloaded the toolchain (bfin-uclinux-gcc -v reports 4.1.2) and u-boot-1.1.6-2008R1.  I do 'make  bf537-stamp_config' followed by 'make' and U-boot seems to build ok (no errors reported, and it generates a bunch of u-boot.* files).  I have a BF537 Stamp board v. 2.1 that already has u-boot 1.1.3 loaded.  I download my newly built u-boot.bin image via loadb 0x1000000 and my terminal program - this seems to go fine...

## Ready for binary (kermit) download to 0x01000000 at 57600 bps...

## Total Size      = 0x00023ae8 = 146152 Bytes

## Start Addr      = 0x01000000

Then I enter 'go 0x1000000' and the board just dies.

Where should I start to troubleshoot this?

Thanks,

Jay

There were some early problems with U-Boot 1.1.3, where this would fail. Try turning off icache and dcache before you do a "go 0x1000000".

Robin,

That solved it.  Thanks for the quick response!

Are there any other general warnings about disabling the caches while in u-boot (for example, prior to re-flashing)?  It looks like both are enabled by default.

once you upgrade, there shouldnt be a cache issue anymore

That was an issue that was resolved in later versions of U-Boot - which only effected starting U-Boot from U-Boot.
