Hi,

I bhought Blackfin BF537 board recently. I did not have any issues and board started working in the first try itself.

Then I modifed ip address and now the processor does not boot at all. Here are the output message while booting.

Loading: T T T

It keeps on loading and then outputs message saying "Retry count excedded;starting again"

How to resolve this?

Thank You

the processor is booting the bootloader (u-boot) just fine

if you want to load files via TFTP, you need to make sure your TFTP server is configured correctly.  please review the documentation:

http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=setting_up_a_tftp_server

http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=bootloaders:u-boot:tftp_loading_files

please review both documents.  if you're getting tftp timeouts, it means your network/hardware/server is misconfigured.

TFTP from server 192.168.110.234; our IP address is 192.168.110.234

This means that your ip address for the targert (BF537) is     192.168.110.234.

The address of the host that should act as the tftp server is  192.168.110.234.

The tftp server should be yout x86 linux box running a nice, well known distribution that also has a tftp server installed and a file called linux in /tftproot (or the directory used

by your tftp as a root directory)

It MUST have a different IP address to the Blackfin target.

On the blackfin

    setenv serverip 192.168.110.xxx

where xxx is the server's ip address

   setenv ipaddr 192.168.110.234

   saveenv

       To save these in flash

This will be OK if this is the only system with that IP address on your network

All of this IS IN the documentation....

But next you will probably get a "file not found" message and you will have to read the excellent documentation to fix that.

I tried setting IP address by the commands (sentenv and saveenv) that you have mentioned, I am getting "Retry count exceeded; starting again" message.

Than I went through the documentation and tried tftp 0x1000 u-boot.bin to test as per documentation, I got the same result as below.

bf537> tftp 0x1000 u-boot.bin

Using BF537 ETHERNET device

TFTP from server 192.168.110.210; our IP address is 192.168.110.234

Filename 'u-boot.bin'.

Load address: 0x1000

Loading: T T T T T T T T T T

Retry count exceeded; starting again

Using BF537 ETHERNET device

TFTP from server 192.168.110.210; our IP address is 192.168.110.234

Filename 'u-boot.bin'.

Load address: 0x1000

Loading: *

Then I did reset and tried to load uImage and same result.

bf537> tftp 0x1000000 uImage

Using BF537 ETHERNET device

TFTP from server 192.168.110.210; our IP address is 192.168.110.234

Filename 'uImage'.

Load address: 0x1000000

Loading: T T T T T T T T T T

Retry count exceeded; starting again

Using BF537 ETHERNET device

TFTP from server 192.168.110.210; our IP address is 192.168.110.234

Load address: 0x1000000

Loading: *

The bdinfo message for my board is as follows.

boot_params = 0x00000000

memstart    = 0x00000000

memsize     = 0x04000000

flashstart  = 0x20000000

flashsize   = 0x00400000

flashoffset = 0x00000000

ethaddr     = 00:E0:22:FE:B8:DA

ip_addr     = 192.168.110.234

baudrate    = 57600 bps

I do not know whats going on here, but I am not able to use the blackfin board. Nothing seems to be working, please help me I am putting much time on this and not getting results.

Thanks

Mike,

I reveiwed the documents posted. Right now I connectet to Stamp board from Windows. I also had setup tftp turbo on my machine and which is also running. I have setup the virtual root in tftp turbo. The avtivity window is blank and no downloads or trasnfers. I am not sure how to transfer a file.

I went through both the documents posted here, I am not able to find troubleshooting section. I am little confused what to do. I followed the whole document, but did not get my board working.

Thanks

you need to verify your Windows machine is working properly before you try making the Blackfin work.  that means you need to get another machine that is known to work and have it communicate with the Windows machine (both ICMP and TFTP).

Mike,

Thanks for your help. I got it working. I just downloaded uImage from the blackfin site.

1. Execute loadb from b537,

2. Do send file (select uImage file from the browser) using hyperterminl (kermit).

Then executed bootm command which booted the image. Actually loadb command did the trick.

Thanks for support.
