the key thing is: ADSP bf537-0.2 (Detected Rev: 0.1)

You compiled for 0.2, and are running on 0.1

https://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=uclinux-dist:features

You need to upgrade your hardware - we do not support 0.1 (it had too many bugs in it to be useable for u-boot or Linux).

For which chip/silicon version is supported, please refer to:

https://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=uclinux-dist:features

For supporting booting methods, check the datasheet, or:

Which is the "best" is a matter of opinion. It is normally which ever you are more comfortable with, or want to take the time to learn.
