Hi,

I installed U-Boot on my BF561 EZKit. But as soon as I try to use the setenv COmmand to change any of the network settings the enviroment Variable is deleted. The same happens when i use the DHCP command to obtain a IP address from the server. Furthermorewhen i set the network settings directly in the config file for the EZKit i am able to ping the server host but it causes an access violation when I try to download the files via tftp protocol. I changed the rights with the chmod and chown command just as described in the Wiki. What is the problem, can anybody help me??

Best regards

make sure you're testing the 2008R1 release binary ... it has been tested and known to work

you can also try disconnecting the usb ez lan card

Hi,

thanks for the very fast reply. I tried to use the official binary release but i still have nearly the same problem, except that now when i issue the "dhcp" command i get an error message saying that the "ethaddr" env Variable is not set, when i want to change it is gone also. Beyond that i am getting an error message on startup saying that the CRC is bad and U-Boot will use the default enviroment. But when I compare the flash with the original file everything is okay. Also I tried to remove the extension card but that changed nothing. Any more ideas??

Best regard

Björn

Board Revision is 2.7 on the sticker underneath but the Print on the Board says 2.1

Silicon rev is 0.5

Can you copy/paste the start of U-Boot? (I'm interested in the speed of things).

Hi,

here is the U-Boot Startup output:

U-Boot 1.1.6 (ADI-2008R1) (Jun 11 2008 - 12:19:26)

CPU:   ADSP bf561-0.5 (Detected Rev: 0.5)

Board: ADI BF561 EZ-Kit Lite board

Flash:  8 MB

*** Warning - bad CRC, using default environment

Out:   serial

Err:   serial

Net:   SMC91111 at 0x2C010300

This is the Version I compiled from Source because I read in the wiki that the USB/LAN Extension is causing problems with SCLK > 100 in Rev. 2.7 of the EZKit Board. The precompiled version has this output:

U-Boot 1.1.6-svn1112 (ADI-2008R1) (Jan 22 2008 - 20:31:14)

CPU:   ADSP bf561-0.3 (Detected Rev: 0.5)

Board: ADI BF561 EZ-Kit Lite board

       Support: http://blackfin.uclinux.org/

Clock: VCO: 600 MHz, Core: 600 MHz, System: 100 MHz

RAM:   64 MB

Flash:  8 MB

*** Warning - bad CRC, using default environment

In:    serial

Out:   serial

Err:   serial

Net:   SMC91111 at 0x2C010300

Thanks for the help

If it is under 80MHz, and still is wonky - can you check your switch/jumper settings? (Just to doible check)

Hi,

I uploaded an Image with SCLK set to 75MHz (Divider 8). The Jumpers JP2 and JP3 do not exist on my Board rev (I looked in the manuals of Analog for the Rev 3.0 there they are also non-existant). I am not quite sure what is meant with open at JP1, because in the manual JP1 is always set but between two different pins. I tried it with no Jumper attached and the Jumper between the Pins 2 and 3 at JP1. But the outcome is the same. Switches are all set properly.

Thanks for your help

Björn

Hi,

I found another interesting effect. I set the IP addresses manually in the configuration file and compiled my own version of U-Boot. With that done i was able to download the linux image to the Board via tftp. As soon this is done most of the enviroment variables are gone. This is the remainder:

bootargs=root=/dev/mtdblock0 rw earlyprintk=serial,uart0,57600

bootcmd=run ramboot

bootdelay=5

baudrate=57600

loads_echo=1

spaver=p=4.4.0.0.2.2.5

serverip=134.130.232.34

Environment size: 170/65532 bytes

Maybe this gives you a hint what is going wrong. The Image is downloaded to the address 0x01000000.

Thanks for the help

Björn

unfortunately, it does not ... we've seen one other report like this (same platform/issue), but i believe we were dealing with flaky hardware at the time ...

i'll see if i can get that board and root cause it with it ...
