Hello!

I have to describe how an embedded Linux-System is created and how the operating system be  generated.

Can somebody give me advice or some usefull links where i can learn someting about this.

I have never done this and I never have heard about doing this.

But I allready now whats a Toolchain, Cygwin, Kernel, uCLinux and in general what a embedded System does.

But I don't know how to use it.

Gerald

Gerald:

You want to do it, or describe it?

To do it, type "make". All the magic happens in the make system for the uClinux dist.

if you want to know how a linux system works from the ground up, visit the Linux From Scratch project: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/

if you want to know how to use Blackfin software, visit our wiki: http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/

Can you tell me if I'm right:

create an embedded System means:

1) install a toolchain like cygwin for windows

2) add an u-boot

generate the operating system means:

3) configure the kernel

4) load kernel to the board

5) boot the system and look if it will work

is this right ?

I'm a little bit confused

Gerald

cygwin is not a toolchain, it's an environment

the terms you're using are kind of generic/high level, so i cant really speak for whether it's "correct"

of course, thats the reason why i cant do it

I will try to find agayn:

embedded Linux-System

Toolchain

1) install Cygwin

2) add linux distributions if not thair (binutils, gcc; do i need some else?)

3) add a bootloader (U-Boot,LILO,GRUB, ...)

generate operating system

4) make menuconfig

5) make all

6) connect with the board about a terminal (Hyperterminal)

7) how do I load the kernel to the board? (about a TFTP-Server ???)

8) boot

cygwin is an environment that is only for Windows, and not needed by everyone.  the Blackfin project for example does not use cygwin in any way.

as for your remaining questions, those are all covered in our wiki: http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/
