I enabled ppp and compiled the kernel again.

when i port it and run pppd command,getting some garbage characters(unable to understand).

I did like this,,

Under Linus kernel options.

Device Drivers --->

Network device support --->

<*> PPP (point-to-point protocol) support

[ ] PPP multilink support (EXPERIMENTAL)

[ ] PPP filtering

<*> PPP support for async serial ports

< > PPP support for sync tty ports

< > PPP Deflate compression

< > PPP BSD-Compress compression

< > PPP MPPE compression (encryption) (EXPERIMENTAL)

< > PPP over Ethernet (EXPERIMENTAL)

uClinux-dist Options

Network Applications --->

[*] pppd

[ ] enable dynamic plugins

[ ] enable ipv6

[ ] enable PAM

[ ] enable MPPE

[ ] enable TACACS+

[ ] enable RADIUS

[ ] enable PPPOE

[ ] enable PPPOA

[ ] disable redirection of passwords starting with @

Should i need to do any changes?

Where should i add the scripts given to create a serial link?

you need to properly configure pppd.  if you run pppd without a config file, it'll default to stdin and as such, spit out "garbage".  this is not a bug.

it's up to you to create the ppp config files.  none are going to be created for you.  please read the documentation Robin already referred you to.

I added config files on both board and Host PC.

When i run pppd command in host ,getting error like

>LCP:timeout Sending Config-Requests

>Connection terminated

>Modem Hangup
