I load the following modules:

 

root:/> lsmod

Module                  Size  Used by

pata_platform           3156  0

and then check the diskstats:

 

root:/> cat /proc/diskstats

but /dev/sda1 does not appear for me to mount it.  Any suggestions on where to start looking for the problem?

please describe the actual hardware & software versions you're using

Mike,

 

Thank you for the quick response.  I am using a custom board based on the BF537 STAMP with uClinux-dist-2009R1.1-RC4

 

The disk is a CF card connected very much like this:

I will read over the link you provided.  Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Mike,

 

After reading through the document you provided a link to, I noticed a word "hotplug" that I had seen in the kernel configuration at one point but never enabled it.  I enabled "Bus options->Support for hot-pluggable device" and that fixed the problem.
