2010-01-19 18:05:07     make pause after activating additional SCM-system

I have started to use Mercurial for keeping track of own file modifications in kernel or user source space. Parallel to .svn, a .hg directory exists. However, make "pauses" right from the start after outputting

make ARCH=blackfin CROSS_COMPILE=bfin-uclinux- -j4 -C linux-2.6.x || exit 1

The process is resuming with console output after over 2 minutes (while having high disk activity)

When I rename .hg and restart the make process, all is well. Moreover, after the kernel has been created, following image name is reported:

Image Name: Linux-2.6.28.9-ADI-2009R1-pre-hg

(note the trailing hg instead of svn).

Any suggestions of how to get rid of this "pausing" behaviour are appreciated.

this is by design.  disable CONFIG_LOCALVERSION_AUTO if you dislike it.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I changed it in kernel menuconfig, general setup.

The distribution build after kernel build is finished is okay, too (was also affected by pausing effect).
