Hi,

I've got the Blutechnix CM-537E core module, as well as the ADIS16350 ext. board. The sensor uses SPI interface, I enabled SPI support in the kernel config (and the user land SPI support option, but to no avail), but I just can't seem to get the spidev device exposed in /dev. bfin-spi loads properly (dmesg bfin-spi.0, dma 17 ), directory /sys/devices/platform/bfin-spi.0 is here, but no proper devices created.

Am I missing something in the kernel config? I read the   docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=spi document, and if I understand correctly, the spidev device should appear in /dev. Do I have to do any additional configurations or something

Thanks,

Marin

no spidev is created automatically.  read the documentation the spi page already pointed you to:

linux-2.6.x/Documentation/spi/spidev

I created the entry in the board file. Seems to be some other problem because ls /dev/spi* returns the spidev0.5 device, but ls /dev doesn't?? Actually it gives out most devices plus a few jibberish ones, such as "35mram", and some with "boxes" for characters (one of them "[box]5" - could be the spidev one). Could be a problem with my UART line, after a minute or so it normalizes and I can see it properly now.

sorry for a false alarm, any ideas on the issue?

you're probably using a crappy USB<->UART dongle.  go buy a better one.

USB-UART is integrated on the Bluetechnix board, but connecting the cable to another computer port solved the issue...
