Hi,

I know it is a newbie question, but it drives me crazy.

I changed my 2008R1.5RC3 to svn-trunk-8292. Everything is OK, but the output image is called linux.initramfs

The old version was linux.initramfs.gz and its size was the half. I cannot store it in the flash chip.

What do I have to do?

I use the Analog Devices BF537-STAMP Makefile.

Hi Mike,

Of course I don't boot the ELFs directly. I use my customized u-boot to boot the system.

The question was about the name and the size of the build output. In the earlyer version it is called linux.initramfs.gz and the size was around 6M. Now it is called linux.initramfs and the size is 11M. I think it is an uncompressed image because of its name and size.

if you arent actually booting an ELF, then you shouldnt be looking at any linux.* output file nor should you care about their file sizes

Hi Mike,

It is OK now. Finally I read the documentation and understood the difference between the uboot ready images and the ELF images.

Your first answer was perfect, but my knowledge was poor to understand it. I'm Sorry.

Peter:

You finally read the documentation, or you finally understood the difference?

If we can change the docs to make things clearer - let us know.
