Hi Guys,

i have only a short question...

I want to use the hostname of my devices to access the Blackfin.

I have set the hostname in rc "hostname TEST"

The problem is that i cant access the Blackfin using "ping TEST"

It only says that hostname TEST can not find....

Does anyone know what the problem is?

I use uClinux2008R1....

Regards,

Patrick

Patrick,

"hostname" just set the name of your board. You need a resolver to combine the ip address with the board name. I think you will need to edit "/etc/hosts" of your Host system (not the board) to be able to " ping TEST", e.g:

192.168.0.6     TEST

as Yi says, running `hostname` merely changes a runtime string *on the board only*.  it has nothing to do with external DNS settings ... you will need to change your other systems and/or DNS systems accordingly.
