Hello Mike,

The website mentioned "The JTAG Blue Cable is an affordable JTAG download cable which can be used as an In Circuit Emulator for the Blackfin".  The link is http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=hw:jtag:jtagblue

Do you know if JTAG Blue Cable can be used for BF548-EZKIT's downloading and debugging?

Thank you.

Regards,

AC

the JTAG interface is the same on all Blackfin processors.  the software run on your PC is what accounts for the processor/flash/etc...

therefore, every ICE listed on our website will work with every Blackfin processor so far.

Hello Mike,

Thanks for quick reply.

I felt strange because when I go to vendor's website http://www.renaelectronics.com/2007Fall/product_x_cable.htm

I saw the "JTAG blue cable" mentioned on blackfin's website is "JTAG Download Cable For Xilinx FPGA/CPLD" mentioned on vendor's website.

This "JTAG blue cable" is plugged directly into PC parallel port.

And vendor's website didn't mention this cable can be used for debugging BF548-EZKIT.

Does uClinux blackfin distribution have proper software so we can use "JTAG blue cable" to do downloading and debugging?

Thank you.

Regards,

AC

Hi Robin,

Thanks a lot for the updated info.

When I look http://docs.blackfin.uclinux.org/doku.php?id=toolchain:debug:gdbproxy, it used IGLOO as an example.

If I follow the same steps on this web page, will gdbproxy detect "JTAG Blue cable" automatically?

Should I install any other compoents before installing jtag?

Thank you.

Regards,

John

igloo/wiggler/jtagblue ... they're all the same thing

the default gdbproxy target is the USB gnICE.  if you have a different cable, you need to specify the connect string with the --connect option.

i dont know what your price point is, but the gnICE is the recommended ICE.  it'll be a lot easier to get things up and going than with a parallel port solution ...
