Hello!

I'm using new 2008R1-RC8 release and trying to compile lpd spooler for BF532. But it can not compile because of  daemon(0,0) function call. And reason is very simple - in unistd.h we can see:

#ifdef __ARCH_USE_MMU__

extern int daemon (int __nochdir, int __noclose) __THROW __wur;

#endif

Of course, I have "no-mmu" system, but I need lpd or any other spooler in my system.

Should I replace daemon(0,0) call with any other code?

daemon() cannot be used on no-mmu systems.  you'll have to recode the relevant code, or try using a different printing setup.  you could try cups since that is the defacto printing standard ... but i'm not sure if anyone else has.

Hi all,

i have nearly the same problem.

I need the lpr command to be able to print to an remote lpd via network.

So i  deleted this line and was able to compile it. Then i configured a printcap and anything i know what is needed.

After starting the lpr i got a message that lpd cannot be started.

lpr /etc/testprint.ps

connect: No such file or directory

jobs queued, but cannot start daemon.

What can i do ?

Use the latest busybox. It works with Blackfin.

http://busybox.net/

BusyBox 1.11.1 (stable)

-> printutils (new)

lpd

lpr

lpq

You will need this patch from Denys Vlasenko to get the printutils of BusyBox 1.11.1 (stable) working properly.
