I am working 2007 R1 RC3 distribution.

 

I have followed the steps mentioned in the above document, for the flash chip M28W640HSBxxx, but i could not get the option for selecting the MTD patitioning support , it is just a blank line before the MTD partioning support option

 

It is something like this option in the menu config screen.

Can someone help what i am doing wrong.

the display in the doc shows only relevant options, not every single option that may be in a menu ... it also only reflects the latest release (2008R1), so you will need to adjust it if you arent using the latest release (and why arent you?)

Does the documentation in the www.blackfin.uclinux.org site is for the latest tool chain and kernel sources?

 

One more doubt, My custom board has the BF533 and M28W640 Flash Chip is interfaced with BF533 using AMS#0 only.

 

Flash size is 8MB. The flash higher order address lines are controlled by the latch bits.

 

When i have enabled the below option.

The below information is resulted when i try to load the uImage and boot using tftp.

 

physmap platform flash device: 00100000 at 20000000

physmap-flash.0: Found 1 x16 devices at 0x0 in 16-bit bank

NOR chip too large to fit in mapping. Attempting to cope...         

Intel/Sharp Extended Query Table at 0x0035

Using buffer write method

cfi_cmdset_0001: Erase suspend on write enabled

Reducing visibility of 8192KiB chip to 1024KiB

 

It seems I should change some logic for Flash High Order address lines for exactly mapping the Flash Device to BF533 AMS#0 alone.

 

Is my undertanding correct or do i need to any other modifications.

 

Existing driver is for 4 MB and I need the driver for 8MB. what changes i need to make.

you will need to write your own flash mapping driver if the flash is not completely hooked up to the async bank.  consult the existing drivers/mtd/maps/ code for examples (such as the one used by the BF533-STAMP).
