SED offers complex high-fidelity RF designs from 50MHz to 30GHz that have been proven over many generations of products. We’ve developed a solid portfolio of existing RF hardware designs, providing us with the experience to quickly and efficiently design to customer requirements.  Work is based on proven designs and algorithms, minimizing implementation risk and reducing time to market for our customers.


The RF design process includes careful selection of RF components to optimize for return loss, power, phase noise, harmonics, IMDR, and flatness. The parameters are a design trade-off and must be tuned for specific requirements of the design.  SED leverages RF Keysight ADS and GENESIS simulation software, along with an internally designed custom RF link budget design tool.  Through careful design, SED can help bring your RF solution to market and meet your customer’s needs.


SED has significant experience selecting and designing circuits for all types of DAC’s and ADC’s, complementing our RF design expertise.  Similar to an RF design, the selection and design of DAC’s and ADC’s involve trade-offs with a variety of factors to consider.  Factors including price, frequency, bandwidth, power consumption, signal power, RF fidelity and additional integrated functionality (now common in many converters) can impact the selection and design decision for DAC’s and ADC’s. SED can help navigate customers through complex designs to ensure they have the optimal solution for the product required.

When developing new high-speed embedded solutions, SED assembles a dedicated team of engineers for the project.  The team is responsible for the work from initial requirements definition through to validation and customer acceptance.  Our team follows a structured and methodical design process consisting of analyzing the requirements, generating and validating the product architecture, implementing the hardware, firmware and software designs, plus defining and executing a suitable test/validation program.  We leverage extensive use of modelling and simulation tools to validate our algorithms and design concepts.  Our design approach is to leverage new technologies and platforms that will help maximize the life of the design, accommodate future requirements and minimize obsolescence issues.  


SED hosts an on-site manufacturing facility, co-located with engineering and design staff.  This allows our team to not only quickly and efficiently prototype new developments, but also handle all recurring manufacturing requirements. Our highly trained manufacturing staff can rapidly process small to medium sized jobs, reducing your time to market.  Additional services SED offers include addressing certification testing including safety, EMC/EMI and other specific requirements.  We also provide warranty and long-term support once your product has been delivered.
