H2 HydraQAM - A 16 QAM RF Channel Solution

The H2 HydraQAM PCIe QAM modulator card offers a versatile and cost-effective solution for MDU and hospitality cable television applications.  Built on existing logic and design knowledge from SED’s original HydraQAM card, SED created a 16 QAM RF channel solution that’s agile within a 160MHz window of spectrum from 46 MHz to 640 MHz. 

 

The H2 HydraQAM supports J.83 Annex A / B / C QAM modulation and is suitable for Analog NTSC / PAL video applications.  Data interconnection is managed over a PCIe interface or a Gigabit Ethernet interface.  H2 HydraQAM can be easily integrated into existing or new customer products through software using the card’s Linux drivers.

 

Many Analog Devices components are critical to the performance of the platform and enable a competitively priced BOM. A high sample rate 16-bit digital to analog converter is the key component that generates and drives the superior performance of the signal output.  In addition, other ADI devices like synthesized voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) and op-amps are important in the signal generation chain.  Additional Analog Devices components like voltage regulators and micro-power regulators ensure all components on the board have reliable, low-noise power that’s available to perform their functions.
