Q)

How is the internal flash of BF50xF processors programmed?

A)

The flash signals on BF50xF ( BF506F and BF504F ) processors are not connected to package pins. Therefore, the only way to program the internal flash on these devices is to execute code on the processor. Examples of methods for programming the flash include:

1- Using the VisualDSP++ flash programming utility.

2- Booting the BF50xF device using one of the external interfaces (SPI, PPI, or UART) and using the code booted onto the Blackfin to program the internal flash.

Q)

Can the internal flash of BF50xF ( BF504F or BF506F ) processors be programmed through JTAG scan?

A)

No. Because neither the flash signals nor the processor signals that interface to those flash signals are included in the JTAG scan chain.
