Using Filter Wizard Designs in Signal Chain Designer

If you have experience designing filters in Precision Studio's Filter Wizard tool, did you know you can conveniently continue to do so from within Signal Chain Designer?

Once you start a new signal chain design, start by dragging the Low Pass Filter Block into the signal chain area.  This will give you a message prompt on how you'd like to configure your filter.  Clicking on Filter Wizard will call the tool in another tab.

If your goal is to bring in an older Filter Wizard Design, you can use the Load option in the upper right corner.  This will allow you to load an existing JSON file.  Once the file is loaded, click the Next Steps button in the upper left corner where you'll now have the option to send the design back over to Signal Chain Designer.

Sending Filter Wizard Design back to Signal Chain Designer

When starting a new design in Filter Wizard, you can define your filter specs, pick components, and build multi-order filters to meet your requirements.  There's even a tolerance button in the upper left corner that allows you to see how much bandwidth variation to expect in the design.  When happy with the design, you can send it back to Signal Chain Designer as mentioned above.

This training video goes into more detail, including how you can use Filter Wizard to help build a differential filter in Signal Chain Designer.  I'll discuss this further in the next tech note on single stage filter design in Signal Chain Designer.
