LTspice installation failing on Windows 11 with Error 1723 - IsWine.dll

Category: Software

tried installing the latest LTspice (version 26.0.2.1) on my Windows 11 laptop, but the installation keeps failing with Error 1723 "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run".

generated a verbose MSI installation log and got this:

Action: IsWine.dll
Entry: IsWineDetected
Error code: 1157

CustomAction IsWine.dll returned actual error code 1157

I am using Windows 11 Home Single Language, Version 25H2, OS Build 26200.8875.

Could you please let me know how I can resolve this issue or if there is an updated installer available that fixes the IsWine.dll problem?

  • Hi  ,

We did see this with certain earlier Windows 11 installations, . May need a new test installer. I'll see what I can do.

  • Hi  ,

We believe we solved this problem, and it should work with the latest installations. Will take a look.

Hmm, is this an enterprise-managed machine?

  • Hi  ,

Which version are you attempting to install?

  • No, it is not. It is my personal PC at home. I know it's a bit of a weird message in that sense, but still...

  • The latest version installer from the download page. I have now found the alternate installer, version 24.1.10. That one worked fine. But, as soon as I try to upgrade it fails with exact the same message. So, I do have a working version now, albeit a bit old.

  • Uhm, never mind :-) I just re-tried the upgrade process from the 24.1.10 test installer version and now it works fine. Could it be that I was installing/upgrading to 26.1 still (signage of the downloaded installer is of monday ‎14 ‎september ‎2026 23:39:30 ) and in the meantime 26.1.1 became available? Anyway, it's solved. We just do not exactly know how.

    Thanks for your replies!

    BR,

    Arthur.

  • Hi  ,

Hey, I'll take a free solution any time.
