Duplicate/Move between windows doesn't work in Mac unified version 26.0.2

Thread Summary

The user reported issues with duplicating objects between windows and disappearing lines in custom symbols after changing pen width in LTspice 26.0.2 on Mac. The final answer confirmed that copy-paste between symbol views is not implemented in the new version, while it worked in 17.x. The user also noted a menu issue where options are not visible, though they still function. A workaround for the menu issue is to use buttons and keyboard shortcuts.

The updated (unified) GUI seems like a major improvement, but already finding some bugs.  The most inconvenient so far is that objects/text/etc. duplicated in one window can't be copied to another.  In the old 17.x Mac version, and according to the instructions for the Windows version, I should duplicate something in one window then bring the other window to the front and click where I want the duplicate.   Nothing happens when I do that in 26.0.2.  I don't see the duplicated objects when I bring the other window to the front like I did in 17.x and nothing is placed when I click in the new window.  Seems like it's just not implemented.

There is also an odd bug where changing the pen width from 1 to 2 causes all the lines in my old custom symbols to disappear.  I have to open the old symbols and change the line styles to solid for every line.  They seem to be set to nothing.  Maybe an import/translation issue where the old version didn't save a style and the default is none?

  • I had a bunch of windows open when I was testing the copy so maybe I accidentally tried to copy from a schematic to a symbol. That or I triggered some other bug I'm can't reproduce now so hopefully it's not a real issue. With a fresh start, copying from schematic to schematic does work.  Copying from symbol to symbol did work in version 17.x (I kept the old one and just tested it), which is probably why it seemed broken.

The menu issue seems to happen a lot but I don't have specific steps.

  • Hi  ,

Huh, I don't know if I've tried in earlier versions of the Windows LTspice. I'll have to give it a shot. May be one reason to keep Old Mac LTspice around… for at least a little bit.

It is a strange one. Funny thing, for me, it seems to happen less often now in the ported version, which is what I mostly use.

Looks like it never worked in the Windows version, at least when testing XVII. Interesting.
