I'm only 4 days an LTspice user, and to learn the ins-and-outs of the application, am modeling a crystal controlled VCO. I placed an "xtal" from the library, got the correct symbol for a crystal, but the info dialog represented this as a capacitor. I don't understand that. I expected a series L, C R with a parallel C around the series string. Could someone explain what the logic was for a capacitor to model a crystal?
Thanks, Doug Ronald, W6DSR
Dear W6DSR ,
When you select the component, you already get a short explanation:
In LTspice, you can add parasitic elements to a cap. Please have a look at the help for more details. The xtal symbol therefore is just another symbol for a cap.
Best regards,
Mathias
Thanks, yes I see now all the parameters are there. I was just thrown off by the application placing a capacitor...
