I have setup a circuit with low output power and am getting a large amount of core loss in the inductor of 1.33W. No matter what I change about the design including the inductor that core loss value never changes. Is there is error in the LTpowerCAD? I would upload the simulation but there is an error when I try.
I believe that in the LT8390 LTPowerCAD "Loss Estimate & Break Down" section under "Inductor Loss" sub-section that Core Loss is actually a user input rather than an output figure (LTPowerCAD isn't calculating this value and 1.33W is the default input value). User inputs are shown with a light blue box, and outputs from LTPowerCAD appear in the light yellow boxes.
As a side note: AC losses vary from inductor to inductor based off of the types of materials used in construction, geometries of the core material and conductors, etc. These loss figures are sometimes provided by the inductor manufacturer through design tools and datasheets.
Oops, I see. Thanks! Wurth's tool can tell me the loss.
