If laser signal strength is not a concern, what is the maxium attainable range and what limits it?
The range is given by a few elements:
- laser power, given by the number of used lasers and laser duty cycle
- laser field of illumination - narrower field of illumination will translate into longer range
- receive lens field of view - narrower field of view will translate into longer range, needs to be correlated with the laser filed of illumination
The maximum range that we've seen someone achieve was 15m.

The assumption of my question is we will always increase the laser power to obtain enough reflected light from the object. How do we configure the ADDI9036 or the sensor to extend the range? Is there a hard limit of range on the sensor? or on ADDI9036?
I have seen the low level API document that you pointed to. I guess the detailed register information is only given in the spec sheet?
To extend the range there are two parameters that can be changed inside the ADDI9036 - the pulse width and the number of pulses that are being generated within a frame. Right now the SDK does not expose functions to change the pulse count or pulse width but we are working on that and should have an update in the next 2-3 weeks.
There isn't a hard limit on the range on the sensor or the ADDI9036.
