AD9959 Setup

Category: Hardware
Product Number: AD9959

Hi, I am looking to understand fully the AD9959 evaluation board in order to implement my own driver. I was wondering if it was normal that each channel do not input the same amplitude value and if so why ? I expected to have the same amplitude for each output considering the fact that the output circuitry are the same for each channel (page 25 of the user manual).  I am currently restarting to the beginning by reading the full documentations in order to demystify this mystery . And also for each channel we do have 2 types of inputs, the filter and without filter output. I realized that I get nothing with the DAC OUT output without filter because there is no 0 ohms resistor for each DAC output ( resistor 24,23,26 and 28 in the page 25 of the user manual) Is there a reason for that ?

Thank you for your time and wish you the best.

  • Hi  ,

Let me break down your questions to better assist you:

    1.  I was wondering if it was normal that each channel does not input the same amplitude value and if so, why? Yes, it is normal that each channel has different amplitude values. This is due to applications that requires this.

    2. I realized that I get nothing with the DAC OUT output without filter because there is no 0 ohms resistor for each DAC output (resistor 24,23,26 and 28 in the page 25 of the user manual) Is there a reason for that? - This is also normal. It was configured that way so that the board will be customized based on what signal you will be using thus you need modifications when changing from filtered to unfiltered output.

    All the best,

    Jules

  • Thank you Jules for the reply. I manage to add the 0 ohms resistors and I now have the desired ouputs.
