AD9852 Evaluation Software

I was wondering if there is a version of the AD9852/PCB Z evaluation software that is compatible with windows 7 64-bit. I looked on the website:

and all I could find were versions up to windows XP.

I have heard users place their Win 7, 64 bit machines in virtual XP mode (32-bit mode) and the XP version software work. However, the AD9852 evaluation board also uses an old printer port connector on the evaluation board for the computer interface. In addition, you need a printer cable that's IEEE-1284 compliant and less than 6ft in length. A lot of the newer computers do not come with option anymore. So, you might have use an older PC anyway to run the evaluation board.

There is a workaround to still get the evaluation board & software to run on Windows 7, but it gets a little complicated.  First, if your computer doesn't have a parallel port you would have to give it one.  Second, you would need to install a virtual PC such as XP mode, but you cannot use Microsoft's Virtual PC.  In Virtual PC they removed the ability to access a parallel port.  Instead you can use a program called VMWare Player which does allow access to the parallel port and also allows you to import XP mode.  Once that's all set up you will have to change a setting within VMWare player to allow access to the parallel port as it's not enabled by default.
