AD5933 R+C&R // C Calibration SOP

Dear All:

Currently using the EVAL-AD5933EBZ measured blood glucose (HCT) analysis on calibration has been unable to verify the State of the R+C and R//C test mode.

Refer to the User Guide UG-364 also made no mention of its R+C and R//C calibration, can you provide those document yo me refer.thanks

    Hi Jacky,

    For the correct procedure on calibration, you can refer to measuring a complex impedance page 8 of this application note http://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/application-notes/AN-1252.pdf

    Take note that you cannot calibrate the system with a complex impedance.

    I was check document UG-364 & AN-1252 don't talk about R+C or R//C calibration process and H/W setting how to on the EVAL-AD5933EBZ EVB Board, but AD5933 GUI provide those function select item for user test. So I want to know how to AD5933 EVB Board to verify R+C or R//C those function, could you please provide detail calibration process and H/W setting SOP(Step by step) or related document to me refer.?

    Hi Jacky,

    The choice of calibration impedance depends on the application in question. That is, you must choose the Calibration Impedance setting that is the same or close to the configuration of the circuit you will be measuring. Choose R+C calibration if you will be measuring series resistor and capacitor, R||C calibration if you will be measuring parallel resistor and capacitor, etc. I stand corrected, you can calibrate the system with a complex impedance but this is not encouraged because phase results will be not as expected.

    The same procedure as the Resistor only calibration is done for the R+C or R||C calibration. The only difference is that for R+C calibration, you must connect a resistor in series with a capacitor to Z of the evaluation board and for R||C calibration, you must connect a resistor in parallel with a capacitor to Z of the evaluation board.
