Question
My application must use ADE7912, to measure AC and DC voltage. Can you confirmthat the A/D converter works also with DC input voltage ?
Answer
Yes, you can measure positive and negative DC voltages, but there will be lessaccuracy compared to AC input voltages.
Use an attenuation network to step down the voltage before you feed it into theIC.
What are your accuracy expectations?
Based on our evaluation, we expect a typical error of 0.25% at 100:1 dynamicrange (from 353.55mVrms to 3.53mVrms for voltage channel).
Over temperature (-40C to 85C) and supply(2.97V to 3.63V) ranges, the error canget to about 4% at 100:1. Of course, you will have to factor in theinaccuracies of the shunt and potential dividers in the sensing system.
If this is in the ballpark of your expectations, I would suggest that youcharacterize the results to get a solid estimate of the error.
