Question
1. In the datasheet, it has below formula. As the red line shown (Figure 2), there is a Factor(X) in the formula. Taking X=2 as the example, andusing AD2S1205 to do the conversion, whether the AD2S1205's output angle and velocity will be two times of the real angle and velocity?2. If we have a resolver, for doing an experiment with AD2S1205, we still need a motor. Then the resolver will be fixed with the motor. When themotor rotate, AD2S1205 will output angle and velocity information. How you set up the experiment environment in your side? Whether you have arecommended motor?
Answer
You are correct. When resolver used has X number of poles velocity output of the part will be X times larger than real velocity of the shaft. Alsoposition will change X times faster on the converter output than on resolver therefore number of poles (function 2x, 3x, 4x) need to be taken intoaccount by software engineer to calculate real parameters of the system.
Whenever I want to operate i.e. the AD2S1205 evaluation board I do one of the following two things:1. I connect real resolver to the RDC converter and rotate the shaft of resolver by hand to see if output position changes on the screen. During thistest velocity is very low as I’m not able to rotate it quick by hand.2. I’m also using resolver format signal generator which produce Sine and Cosine signals which I apply to the AD2S1205 converter. Such a generatorcan be configured in stationary position or I can set velocity therefore my capabilities are here much higher than with option 1 above. PersonallyI’m using North Atlantic 5300 device which is resolver/synchro standard generator.
