Using the I/O pin as an input and toggling it with an external voltage source does not contribute to the wear-out condition of 50,000 writes to the EEPROM because F7h is a read-only register. On the other hand writing to register F6h to change the output of an I/O pin does contribute to the wear-out as this requires an I2C write to the EEPROM.
