Zedboard cannot recognize EVAL-AD3552RFMC1Z

Category: Hardware
Product Number: Eval-ad3552

Hello,

I'm trying to use the EVAL-AD3552RFMC1Z using the Zedborad as the controller. And I follow the wiki (https://wiki.analog.com/resources/eval/user-guides/dac/ad3552r_eval_zed) and the user guide (Evaluating the AD3552R, 16-Bit, Dual-Channel, Current Output DACPDF).

I followed the instructions in the wiki and completed up to the IIO Oscilloscope section. I was able to send commands to the Zedboard and receive responses successfully, so I believe the Zedboard should be programmed correctly.

According to the user guide, if the connection is correct, I should be able to see an icon like Fig. 1 in the "Attached Hardware" section of the ACE software. However, the ACE software cannot recognize the EVAL-AD3552RFMC1Z , which is shown in Fig. 2.

Fig.1 The "Attached Hardware" section of ACE in the User Guide             Fig.2 The "Attached Hardware" section of ACE in my computer

Additionally, there are some information prompts on the EVAL-AD3552RFMC1Z board.

  • Green: Power up correct
  • Red: Alter trigger
  • Blue: Dual SPI enable
  • Purple: SYNC DUAL SPI enable

which are the statuses corresponding to different LED colors on the EVAL-AD3552RFMC1Z board.

But the LEDs on my EVAL-AD3552RFMC1Z board don't light up, so I think the Zedboard don't recognize EVAL-AD3552RFMC1Z.

Fig.3 The LEDs(in the red rectangle) don't light up

  • Hi,

is currently taking a look at this query.

    Thanks,

    Den

  • This Linux image still does not support the communication with ACE. Configuration must be done using IIO Oscilloscope and waveforms can be transferred using IIO lib in Python.

We are moving to a single Linux image supporting all the products, but the EVAL-AD3552R is not added yet.

  • Thanks for your answers!
Accroding to the "IIO Oscilloscope" section of the wiki(https://wiki.analog.com/resources/eval/user-guides/dac/ad3552r_eval_zed), I should see the waveform on the ADI IIO Oscilloscope, but there is nothing in the software.Could this be because I am not connecting the EVAL-AD3552R to an oscilloscope?
Also, the LEDs on the EVAL-AD3552R do not light up. Is this a problem?

  • The Oscilloscope window is for ADCs. For DACs, we can only send a vector of data and check the waveform on the oscilloscope.

I think that the evaluation board should power up when Linux boot completes. There is a signal coming from the FPGA that turns on the converters. I will check this on my side.

  • The evaluation board should power on when boot is complete. Make sure that V_ADJ is set to 1.8V.

  • The V_ADJ is indeed set to 1.8V.
Wolud you like to give a s
uccessful boot message of the zedboard? I want to confirm if there is a problem with my boot.
And here is my boot message Arrow down
