This seems to be a part of an in-loop compensation scheme. This technique is used to improve stability and performance, especially when the load resistance is either unknown or dynamic. The added capacitor allows for the cancellation of the pole and zero contributed by the load capacitance. However, for this technique to be applicable, the load capacitance must be of a known and constant value. This method can be beneficial due to its low DC output impedance and low noise.
