Can the EVAL-AD3552R board be powered from a single +12V supply if no connection is made via FMC?

Category: Hardware
Product Number: EVAL-AD3552R, AD3552R

I would like to power the  EVAL-AD3552R DAC eval board from an external +12V supply and make use of all the on-board LDO regulators, but not use the FMC interface for power or communications.  I have my own SPI interface.  Is this possible?

If so, how?

Regards,

Sean

  • Yes, the board can be powered from a single 12V supply on connector P5, pin 1, labeled +12V_FMC. The source should be able to provide at least 100 mA.

A turn on signal is required on connector P5, pin 2, named POWER_ON_FMC. Any voltage higher than 1V turns on the DC/DC converters and LDOs.

Note that the AD3552R can only operate with digital levels up to 1.8V. If your controller is 3.3V you should use a level converter.
