Specs wise, there is no difference with the B and Y variants. You can use them alternative to each other.

Different grades for parts are intended for different (tighter or looser) production test limits or qualifications (automotive, etc). This should have been the original intent. I do not exactly know why they continue to use different grades for this part but have the same performance.
