In the datasheet of AD5162, we can see 2ch, and first channel is shown by A1/W1/B1, but second channel only shows W2 and B2 and none for "A2". There is no pin assigned to "A2" in pin assignment.
How should I think about A terminal for this second channel ? Is it shared with other pins or A1 pin ?
Sorry to this fundamentals, but your helps would be very muchappreciated.
The AD5162 has a channel for potentiometer mode and one for rheostat mode (No A terminal).
This article shows the differences between rheostat and potentiometer mode:
If you are interested in a dual channel potentiometer have a look at the AD5207 digiPOT
On page 16 of the AD5228 datasheet (Rev A.) there is a brief article on using the AD5228 in an audio amplifier with volume control.
There is also a detailed circuit note that's worth looking at also: http://www.analog.com/static/imported-files/circuit_notes/CN0120.pdf
Thank you very much for your kind answers for my beginners questions.
I understand what it is and think these 2 channels of AD5162 can be used for our application, but need to check more in detail.
In regards to AD5207, we need I2C interface rather than SPI, because of MCU restriction. So we will look for other parts if need.
BTW, we have other application of digipot for audio volume control. Do you have any specific part can be recommended for these applications ?
